Den is a bent plywood chair influenced by Canadian design that three classmates and I created for a second-year Humber College industrial design project.

The design requirements were as follows:

1. The chair had be Canadian in style - my group had to define what that meant.

2. The chair had to use plywood and one other material.

3. The chair had to be easily transportable to the showroom.

While each member of the team submitted designs, ultimately, my design was chosen for the project, and I led the team through the fabrication process of two chairs.

Den is a lounger with an under-seat storage shelf for blankets, books, and games. The chairs were made from a combination of Canadian plywood and wiggle board; the cushions were outsourced to a Canadian company (Borgo Upholstery Ltd ); and the chairs were finished in an orange beeswax.
